Learn to Machine Sew! - NEW CLASS ADDED!!!

Instructor:  Erin Cox

This class is for beginners who want to learn to sew on a sewing machine. We will be making a 4' x 5' simple block quilt over the course of 2 days.  This class is offered on May 13 & 14.  All materials and machines are provided. You are encouraged to bring your own machine if you have one so that you can get used to sewing on it.  (The instructor will contact you after you register to discuss whether you wish to bring your own machine.)  These quilts make great gifts. Bring a friend!  Ages 10 and up.

Monday and Tuesday, May 13 & 14; 5:30-8:30 P.M.  Register by May 5.

ATV Hands-On Safety Class

Instructors:  Alborn Dirt Devils

This is the DNR-approved class for youth ages 12 to 15.  Once the student has completed this class, they can operate an adult-size ATV on public land providing they are accompanied by another rider 18 or older with a driver’s license.  Students can take the course at 10 years of age, but the safety certificate is not valid until their 12th birthday.

Student must complete the ATV Safety Online Training Course at ATVcourse.com and print the certificate of completion prior to attending this Hands-On Class. Students can then register for the Hands-On Class at mndnr.gov/safety/vehicle/atv.  This Hands-On Class consists of 2 hours of classroom work, 15-question Safety Training Review, and an obstacle course on an ATV.  Students are asked to provide their own ATV if possible and wear proper riding gear.  There will be one or two ATV's available for use if student is unable to bring one.  Parents are expected to attend if possible.  Pre-registration is necessary with Community Ed in order to attend the Hands-On Class; space is limited, so register early.  Bring your certificate of completion for the ATV Online  Safety Training Course to class.

Saturday, June 1; 9:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M.  Register with Community Ed by May 25

Fee:  $10.00 for the course to be paid online by student after completion of Hands-On Class in order to get ATV safety certificate.

Summer Session of Driver’s Education  

Instructor:  George Olson  

Open to students 14 years of age and older as of the first day of class.  This will be an in-person class.  Class will be held from 8:00-11:00 A.M. on:

June 10-14 (Monday-Friday)

June 20-21 (Thursday-Friday)

June 24-26 (Monday-Wednesday)

June 27 (Makeup Day)

One make-up day of Thursday, June 27 is scheduled for any lesson you miss.  Any further missed lessons will be made up at an additional charge of $75 per lesson (no allowances will be made), or the course will need to be retaken, and no refund will be given.  There will also be a 1 ½-hour parent meeting with an officer of the State Patrol (date yet to be determined).   Parents and students who attend are eligible for a 10-hour reduction in the number of logged hours needed before students may take their road tests.  Register by June 1; class will be cancelled if the required minimum number of students is not met.

Celebrate the Christmas Season with Irving Berlin’s musical

“White Christmas” at Chanhassen Dinner Theatre

on this day trip on Saturday, November 23, 2024!

 

The cost of this day trip includes deluxe-motorcoach-bus fare, show ticket for center section in front of stage, and lunch of your choosing from the menu at Chanhassen Dinner Theatre (tax and gratuity included). 

Tickets are limited; there are no refunds for cancellations unless seat can be sold to another party.  All patrons will be refunded if the trip is cancelled due to lack of registrations.  Register online at https://slc2142.revtrak.net/ or contact Lenny Johnson for other registration options or information. Students must be 5 years old and up; 17 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult. All seats must be reserved and paid in full by Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024 at 5:00 P.M.

This escorted trip is Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024.   Bus leaves Hibbing at 6:00 A.M., Cherry School at 6:15 A.M., Virginia Village Inn at 6:45 A.M., South Ridge School at 7:30 A.M.  Return to South Ridge School at 7:30 P.M., Virginia Village Inn at 8:15 P.M., Cherry School at 8:45 P.M., and Hibbing at 9:00 P.M.  We will stop at Tobies in Hinckley on the way down and way back for 15 minutes.  Additional pick-up/drop-off locations available upon request. Cost is $153 per person.
